Characterization of the Business Activity in the City of Ocaña.

The aim of this study was the characterization of the business activity in the city of Ocaña (Colombia) thereon describing of its economic sectors; the duration of enterprises, and their legal setup, size, management indicators and merchandising strategies, among others; the entrepreneur´s age, gender, civil status and education. A non-experimental- cross-descriptive study was followed. A sample of 353 enterprises were taken from a 4.270 of the whole of them with registry in commerce in the city. A structured survey was applied to the sample entrepreneurs. The results show that the small business is the most frequent kind of enterprise, there is a low interest among the entrepreneur for their qualification, and it is just one third of them having a professional degree. The business activity makes toward the local and regional demands. There was found in addition, a lack of long-term business planning.Downloads
