Abstract

Biodegradation of materials is an important issue of environmental control that has motivated the manufacturing of products that guarantee it, facilitating its transformation into a new environmental-benefit substances. The crisp-head lettuce packing under conditions of natural conservation, hygiene and health standards is a request to its handling, transportation, merchandising and using. Biopolymers obtained from starch are biodegradable compounds usable in the vegetable products packing manufacturing because of the their fit properties to guarantee the healthy quality and product preservation, besides they are easy and quickly disintegrated substances when disposed of. This technological research study had characteristics as raw material for the crisp-head lettuce biodegradable packaging manufacturing that ensures, at the same time, with high health quality preservation standards and easily transportation and merchandising characteristics.
